Albizia lebbeck, commonly known as the lebbeck tree, is a notable member of the Fabaceae family, recognized for its ecological, cultural, and economic significance across tropical and subtropical regions. This study provides a comprehensive overview of the botanical characteristics, historical context, and multifaceted applications of A. lebbeck, emphasizing its rich phytochemical composition, which includes alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and phenolic compounds. These compounds contribute to a diverse range of pharmacological activities, including anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, antimicrobial, antioxidant, antidiabetic, and analgesic properties. The tree's bark, leaves, seeds, flowers, and roots have been extensively researched, validating traditional uses in treating respiratory disorders, skin diseases, and inflammatory conditions. Furthermore, A. lebbeck's role in agroforestry and soil conservation highlights its ecological benefits, such as nitrogen fixation and soil fertility enhancement. This research underscores the enduring importance of A. lebbeck as a valuable resource for human health and environmental sustainability, while also acknowledging the need for careful management due to its invasive potential in non-native regions.
